What is a Solar Pool Warmer?

Having a pool is a luxury and not being able to use it more times out of the year can be upsetting. To get more use out of your pool, rather than a couple of months, you should invest in a pool warmer. Pool warmers can get expensive, but a cost effective way of heating your pool is through a solar pool warmer. A solar pool warmer uses the energy from the sun to heat your pool. Instead of having to turn it on, it instantly activates when the sun is out.

When it comes to choosing a solar pool warmer, you have three options: Solar disks, solar covers, and solar panels. Considering a solar pool warmer instead of an electric or gas powered one, can save you hundreds of dollars and allows you to really enjoy your pool. If you’re not sure which option is best for you, here is a breakdown of the three:

Solar Disks

Solar disks are inflatable disks that you can purchase to lay on top of the water to heat your pool. Some disks will stick together, which makes it easy to disassemble and remove. If you have a smaller pool, this may be a great option for you, since you wouldn’t have to purchase too many disks. To maintain your solar disk you have to use a sponge and white vinegar solution to clean, which can be a pain.

Solar Covers

Unlike the solar disks that won’t cover every inch of your pool, a solar cover will. Solar covers helps reduce the heat loss due to evaporation by creating a barrier between the pool water and the air. If your pool is an unusual shape, you will need to buy a pool cover bigger than your pool and trim the edges with a scissors. You have more choices than the disks, in sizes, colors, and thickness. Unfortunately with pool covers, you will have to replace them because they begin to deteriorate. They last for about 3 years.

Solar Panels

Solar panels are the more common form of pool warmers. Using solar panels is the more expensive option, but is worth it because of the low maintenance and better reliability. If your solar panel use Heliocol panels, those produce more energy and last longer than regular panels. They last for 20+ years and have a lifetime-limited warranty so you don’t have to worry about your investment. Upkeep is simple, all you have to do is hose down the panels to clean them.

Superior Solar is the only provider that uses Heliocol panels in the Orlando and greater Central Florida area. With no money due upfront, Superior Solar makes it easy to make the switch to solar. Going solar helps reduce your carbon footprint, because solar panel pool heaters emits no air pollution and uses the renewable energy from the sun. The water is heated through the solar panels and is passed back into the pool. You can set a desired temperature and the system monitors the sun, while starting the process of filtering the water through the panels until it reaches the temperature you want. Start to make more use out of your pool today by contacting a Superior Solar representative!
